Edible Landscape Award

Edible Landscape Award - Edible School Gardens!

A special award was presented to Leonie Shanahan of Edible School Gardens at this year Glossies awards.  Leonie was presented with a   ' Recognition of Achievement'  Award for her outstanding work in schools on the Sunshine Coast over 10+ years.

Edible School Gardens are living classrooms designed for both abundant food production as a place of beauty, creativity and sustainable education within the school environment.

We empower the students with information about ‘smart’ garden design. Fundamental to the design process is consideration of the natural elements, use of recycled, second-hand materials and the practice of organic gardening methods to produce a sustainable garden.

Each design incorporates beautiful entry arches supporting vines and climbing plants, creating a luscious, green ‘welcoming’ entrance. Our gardens have different heights and textures to capture your interest with a rich mix of seasonal salads and vegetables, mulching plant, perennials, medicinal herbs and natives.

Within the Edible School Garden you will find a mix of fruit trees – subtropical, indigenous bush foods, the lush texture of mulching plants, a series of compost systems and of course the children’s beautiful artworks.

Edible School Gardens are developed around best practice and sustainable organic gardening principals and incorporate a great understanding of the soil health/plant health relationship and other methods to address pest and weed management.

The embrace seasonality and best of all are well priced for schools.

Edible School Gardens are designed to bring calmness, beauty and abundance to the school environment as well as an outdoor edible classroom.
